It is now clear that this departure was in the works for weeks. Both MSNBC and Olbermann did a great job in keeping it a secret. His sign off on Friday sent shock waves through the media world and his audience. Many believe this is stemming from the time Olbermann was suspended back in November for his donations to democratic candidates.
